Local Athletes, Ad Astra Radio Team Member Named to Boys Soccer All-State Teams

The Kansas High School Soccer Coaches Association (KHSSCA) released its Fall 2025 Boys Soccer All-State teams on Sunday, Nov. 30.

High school athletes from Hutchinson, McPherson, Buhler, and Hesston were included in the teams. In addition, a sportswriter and announcer at Ad Astra Radio was named as one of the Referees of the Year.

Hutchinson’s lone member of the 5A All-State teams was junior forward Griffin Galyon, who was a First Team All-State honoree. Galyon led the Salthawks in Goals (19) and Assists (10). Hutchinson finished 8-9-1 on the season, placing 5th in the AVCTL D1 standings and falling in the Regional Finals.

In 4-1A, conference foes McPherson and Buhler had five All-State honorees each. For the Bullpups, senior forward Manny Morales and sophomore midfielder Yahir Valadez were named to the First Team. Junior midfielder Jackson Martin and senior goalkeeper Gabe Standfast were named to the Second Team, and junior defender Grayson Broadus was an Honorable Mention. Morales and Valadez tied for the team’s most assists (10), but Morales led with 22 goals. Valadez had 12. Standfast allowed only 26 goals, making 158 saves (8.3 per match). McPherson finished 2nd in the AVCTL D3-4 standings with a 6-1 record, just one game behind Rose Hill, who eventually won the 4-1A State Title. The Bullpups advanced all the way to the State Quarterfinals, where they fell again to Rose Hill.

Buhler finished 3rd in the AVCTL D3-4 standings with a 5-2 league record, led by senior forward Reuben Harder and junior midfielder Jaydon Adcock, who were both named to the All-State Second Team. Senior forward Gio Walters, senior midfielder Lincoln Tanksley, and senior defender Caleb Horning were named Honorable Mentions. Harder led the Crusaders with 10 goals. Adcock led the team with eight assists. Overall, Buhler finished the 2025 season with a 7-9-1 record, which concluded in Regionals against Wichita-Trinity Academy.

The Hesston Swathers had three players named to the 4-1A All-State Teams lists as well. Sophomore forward Briggs Stauffer and senior midfielder Daniel Lumbreras were named to the Second Team. Junior forward Diesel Bergen was named an Honorable Mention. Stauffer led the Swathers with 11 goals. Bergen had nine goals and a team-high five assists. Lumbreras had six goals. Hesston finished with a 9-9-1 record, falling in the Regional Finals to Wichita-Classical, who placed 4th in State.

Ad Astra Radio sportswriter and announcer Brad Hallier was also named by the KHSSCA as one of the Referees of the Year. Hallier is the voice of the Hutchinson-Trinity Academy Celtics on “Kansas Rocks” 100.3 FM KNZS, providing play-by-play commentary for all Celtic football and basketball games, while also providing local written content on adastraradio.com. Hallier, an assistant journalism professor at Hutchinson Community College, was the Assistant Referee 1 in the 4-1A Third Place match and the fourth official in the State Championship match.
