One person was killed and another seriously injured in a two vehicle crash on US 169 just east of the 1150 Road interchange south of Humboldt just after 5:30 Monday evening.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said a pickup driven by Jerri Linn Francis of Chanute was southbound on 169 when she crossed the center line and collided head-on with a northbound pickup driven by Charles Edward Rogers II of Iola.
Francis was pronounced dead at the scene; Rogers was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with reported serious injuries.
Allen County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Daren Kellerman said in a news release Monday evening road conditions may have contributed to the crash, though it does remain under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
