Swede Men’s Basketball outpaced by Gorillas in second half, fall 101-58

Pittsburg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Men’s Basketball team took a trip to Pittsburg, Kan. in southeast Kansas to take on the Pittsburg State University Gorillas, a NCAA Division II University, in an exhibition match for the Swedes.

The Swedes hung with the Gorillas in the first half only trailing 44-31 at the break, but the Gorillas would erupt for 57 points in the second half while the Swedes only mustered 27. The Swedes would fall 101-58.

Curtis Stovall III would led the charge for the Swedes with 18 points with 15 of them coming from downtown and the last three from the charity stripe as Stovall went perfect from the free throw line. David Mitchell provided a strong interior presence with 12 points and a team-high five rebounds.

Rebounds were a weak spot for the Swedes as they were outrebounded 43-20 and allowed 20 second chance points to the Gorillas. Bethany was also outscored 46-28 in the paint.
