LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks will play their regular season finale on Friday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. CT when the Jayhawks host the No. 14 Utah Utes at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN with Anish Shroff (Play-by-Play), Andre Ware (Analyst) and Paul Carcaterra (Sideline) on the call.
Friday’s game will also serve as senior day as Kansas celebrates 33 seniors for their dedication to Kansas football. Among Kansas’ seniors being recognized on Friday are: Emmanuel Henderson Jr., Bangally Kamara, Leshon Williams, Doug Emilien, Dean Miller, DJ Graham, Daniel Hishaw Jr., Jayson Gilliom, Levi Wentz, Devin Dye, Jalen Dye, DeShawn Hanika, Landon Nelson, Finn Lappin, Grayden Addison, Cole Mondi, Emory Duggar, DJ Withers, Hank Kelly, Kael Farkes, Nolan Gorczyca, Kobe Baynes, Enrique Cruz Jr., Mack Moeller, Boden Groen, Tommy Dunn, Cole Petrus, Kenean Caldwell, Gage Keys, Laith Marjan, Bryce Foster, Justice Finkley and Jalon Daniels.
Kansas enters its regular season finale at 5-6 (3-5 Big 12) in search of bowl eligibility. Kansas is led by redshirt senior quarterback Jalon Daniels, who is having the best year of his career by completing 188-of-292 passing for 2,344 yards and 21 touchdowns. Over his career, Daniels has thrown for 9,095 career passing yards and 66 touchdowns, while rushing for 22 touchdowns.
Daniels is one of 10 players in Big 12 Conference history to have at least 9,000 career passing yards, 60 career passing touchdowns and 20 career rushing touchdowns and is joined by Baker Mayfield, Colt McCoy, Sam Ehlinger, Patrick Mahomes, Trevone Boykin, Robert Griffin III, Charlie Brewer and Max Dugan to do so. Daniels is also 1-of-16 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy recognizing the player with the best combination of academics, football performance, and leadership.
Defensively, the Jayhawks are led by redshirt junior linebacker Trey Lathan, who leads the team with 82 total tackles. Lathan tied his career high of 13 tackles last week at Iowa State, which was the most since totaling 13 earlier this season at Missouri.
To become bowl eligible, the Jayhawks will have to defeat No. 14 Utah, who comes to Lawrence with a 9-2 (6-2 Big 12) record and is in contention for the Big 12 Conference Championship. Utah is coming off a thrilling 51-47 win over Kansas State on Senior Day on Nov. 22, of which Utah scored 16 unanswered points in the final seven minutes to overtake Kansas State.
Kansas and Utah will meet on Friday for the fifth time in series history and the first time since 1996. The series is tied at 2-2, while Friday’s matchup will be the first between the two teams as Big 12 Conference opponents.
