Aah’Lice Jackson
Freshman at Hutchinson High School

SHE’S BOLD, DRIVEN, AND READY TO LEAD.
Meet Aah’lice, our first 2025 Youth of the Year Candidate Feature, who is already making a difference in her Club and community. Aah’lice has been a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson for five years. Prior to her family moving to Hutchinson, she was also a member of the Coffeyville Boys & Girls Clubs.
Though Aah’lice has not been a part of our Clubs for long, she’s already leaving her mark. She has been a part of several programs including Smart Girls, Keystone, Torch Club, and Work-Based Learning just to name a few!
When asked what The CLUB has taught her, Aah’lice says she credits the Club with building her confidence. leadership skills, and sense of purpose. She also mentioned our Work-Based Learning Program, which she credits for being an amazing hands-on experience that gave her a chance to try her hand at administration, marketing, and professional development at our Administrative offices over the summer.
All of which will help her pursue her goals as a future leader as she makes the choice between graphic designer, accountant, business owner and professional volleyball player.
When Aah’lice isn’t uplifting the vibes in our Clubs, she is busy earning titles such as Ms.Kansas Jr. Pre-Teen 2019 and Ms. Kansas Pre-Teen 2024, or running her Glow and Shine Campaign, which focuses on inspiring youth and raising mental health awareness.
Gabriel Marcum
Sophomore at Hutchinson High School

HE’S A MENTOR, AND ADVOCATE, AND A CHANGEMAKER.
Gabriel Marcum has always been driven by a deep passion for helping others grow, learn, and gain confidence in themselves. From the moment he walked through the Bright Blue Doors of the Boys & Girls Club, he found a community that nurtured his curiosity, encouraged his personal growth, and inspired him to give back in meaningful ways.
Through his time at the Club, Gabriel has grown into a thoughtful leader who isn’t afraid to step outside his comfort zone. He has learned the importance of using his voice—whether advocating for stronger substance misuse prevention programs, speaking up about equal opportunities, or ensuring vital resources like Narcan are accessible in schools and Clubs. For Gabriel, courage isn’t about grand gestures; it’s built in the small moments where one chooses to speak, even when it feels uncomfortable.
Gabriel’s dedication to mentorship and education shines through in everything he does. He has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for young people to learn and thrive, from helping design the Club Member–run coffee shop, Cozy Bean, to volunteering at a local elementary school, where he tutors and guides students. For him, seeing someone succeed because of the encouragement and guidance he provides is deeply rewarding and has cemented his desire to become an elementary school teacher.
A cornerstone of Gabriel’s growth has been the mentorship he received from Ms. Gray, who has encouraged him, celebrated his successes, and supported him in navigating challenges. Through her guidance, Gabriel has honed his leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, all while discovering his passion for teaching and mentoring.
Gabriel’s journey demonstrates the transformative power of dedication, empathy, and support. He embodies the spirit of the Boys & Girls Club, not only growing himself- but also helping others reach their potential. His advocacy, leadership, and unwavering commitment to making a positive difference exemplify why he is a standout candidate for the 2025 Youth of the Year.
Karina Flores-Galindo
Sophomore at Hutchinson High School

SHE’S RESILIENT, EMPATHETIC, AND INSPIRING.
Karina Flores‑Galindo’s journey at the Boys & Girls Club has been defined by purpose, passion, and a commitment to lifting others. From the moment she first ran through the Bright Blue Doors, she found a community where she could explore her potential, develop meaningful relationships, and make a real difference.
Through her work as a Work-Based Learner, President of her Club, JAG-K Journalist, and member of On-Site Council and DECA, Karina has embraced leadership in ways that are both innovative and compassionate. Her leadership isn’t about authority—it’s about showing up with heart, guiding others, and nurturing potential. She has learned that even small acts, like reading to younger Club members, can create profound impact, and she has consistently used her time and talents to support and inspire those around her.
Karina’s advocacy for mental health awareness is deeply personal. She has transformed her own experiences into a mission to help others, creating campaigns at school, distributing bracelets, and spreading the message of hope and support. Her writing, speeches, and everyday actions aim to break the silence, guide others toward healing, and ensure that every young person knows they are heard and valued.
Mentors like Ms. Margo and Mr. Marques have shaped Karina’s growth, offering guidance, encouragement, and the belief in her potential. Through their support, Karina has developed her confidence, leadership, and ability to make meaningful change. She has seen firsthand how empathy, patience, and intention can transform communities, and she carries these lessons forward in every role she takes on.
Karina’s dedication to mentoring, advocacy, and service exemplifies the spirit of the Boys & Girls Club. She embodies courage, compassion, and creativity, proving that one voice—used with purpose—can inspire countless others. Her commitment to mental health, education, and community leadership makes her a standout candidate for the 2025 Youth of the Year.
