ANDALE, Kan. — Andale senior Sam Harp set the tone early for the Indians against Clay Center in a Class 3A regional matchup Friday.
Harp’s 74-yard touchdown run on the Indians’ first play from scrimmage gave Andale the lead 3 minutes and 12 seconds into the contest en route to a 51-6 victory over the Tigers. Harp rushed for 197 yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns, with his second coming on a 55-yard run with 5:34 left in the first quarter.
Andale scored three times in the second quarter with rushing touchdowns from Noah Stanley from six yards, a 14-yard run by Jack Horsch, and a 4-yard run by Harp.
Horsch added his second score of the night, eight seconds in the second half, with a 39-yard run. Afton Allaire scored from 35 yards out with 6:50 left in the third, which triggered a running clock the remainder of the contest. Clay Center avoided the shutout with 7:30 left in the game, with Drew Hoffman scoring on a 1-yard run.
Andale recorded 470 yards of total offense and scored 50 or more points for the ninth time in 10 games.
Andale (10-0) will host Pratt next Friday at 7 p.m. in the sectional round in Class 3A. Pratt (9-1) defeated Hugoton, 35-14.
