IOLA, Kan. (Oct. 2, 2025) — Allen Community College student musicians performed a variety of instrumental, vocal and piano selections during the Fall Student Recital held Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in the ACC A Complex, in the area of campus commonly referred to as the “Fishpond.”
The recital featured students from the studios of Treca Jackson and Patrick Matarazzo, ACC music instructor. Piano performances included Cecille Ngunjiri playing Summer Night by Renfrow, Ainsley Weiss performing Sonatina in C Major by Duncombe, and Daniel Hope presenting March by Kohler.
Vocalist DeMarco Ross sang Long, Long Ago by Thomas Haynes Bayly, accompanied by Kelly Baker.
Instrumental performances included Danielle Tidd on clarinet with Valse Graziosa by Beldon Leonard, Ainsley Weiss on baritone saxophone with Rondeau by Dishinger, Cecille Ngunjiri on trumpet with Aria by Bernard Fitzgerald, and Carson Blevins on alto saxophone with Andante and Allegro by André Chailleux. All instrumentalists were accompanied by Treca Jackson.
Special Guest Artist Jan Rogers, a retired music educator with 28 years of experience in southeastern Kansas, performed Berceuse by Phillipe Gaubert and Sonatina by Francis Poulenc (Allegro Malinconico), both accompanied by Jackson. Rogers is a graduate of Pittsburg State University and the University of Saint Mary and has contributed to numerous musical organizations and productions throughout her career.
The next ACC Student Recital will be held Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Fishpond area of the A Complex on the Allen Community College campus. The event is free, and the public is welcome.
