Tajet leads Warriors Golf to a first place finish in Bethel Invitational

Sterling College men’s golf won the Bethel Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 29-30 with a team score of +14. Freshman Tobias Tajet led the team, finishing first individually with a final score of -1. Tajet’s consistent play, including a strong -2 in the final round, highlighted Sterling’s effort in the tightly contested event.

The Warriors played three rounds at the Hesston Municipal Golf Park in Hesston, Kan. The course features 6,361 yards with a par of 69.

Tajet led Sterling College with a stellar performance, finishing first overall. He carded a final score of -1, highlighted by a strong final round of -2, following a consistent start with -1 in the first round and a +2 in round 2.

Anders Hermansen secured an eighth-place finish, posting a final score of +4. Hermansen’s strongest performance came in the second round, where he shot a -2, despite challenging first and third rounds at +3 each.

Zach Surface ended the tournament in 10th place with a final score of +6. Surface maintained consistency in the second round with an even-par, although he faced tougher conditions in the first and third rounds, each at +3.

Sondre Jensen finished 12th with a final score of +7. Jensen started strong with a -1 in the opening round but encountered difficulties in the final round, posting an +8 after shooting even with par through the second round.

Thomas Castelblanco rounded out the top 24 for the Warriors, concluding with a +15 overall. Castelblanco’s performance included consistent rounds of +6 in the second and third rounds, following a +3 in the first.

The Warrior’s junior varsity also competed in the tournament, finishing sixth in the varsity division shooting a +71 through three rounds.

Axel Vogt lead the JV team claimed a ninth-place finish after a strong +1 score in the final round after consistent +2 scores in both the first and second rounds of play.

Antoine Lianos and Jonathan Shelton finished 32nd and 33rd with scores of +21 and +22, respectively. Lianos started off slow with a +13 score in the first round but bounced back in the second and third rounds with scores of +5 and +3, respectively. Shelton showed consistency through the first two rounds with scores of +6 and +7, finishing the final round with a +9 score.

Louis Delattre-Mignon finished in 36th for the Warriors, shooting a +11 in the first round, improving to a +5 score in the second, and finishing the tournament with a +9 score in the final round.

Rounding out the field for Sterling was Kaz Comley who finished in 49th place. He showed consistency through the first and second round with scores of +11 and +12, before a challenging third round in which he shot +17.

Grayson Ybarra competed in the tournament individually and finished 53rd in the field. He started with a +13 score in round one, before a tough +22 score in the second round. He came back strong with his best score of the tournament, shooting +11 in the third round.

The Warriors will be back in action at the Pioneer Prairie Classic on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 13-14 in Andover, Kan. at the Terradyne Golf Course.
