McPHERSON, Kan. — Additional information has been released in the case of a McPherson woman facing child abuse and other charges stemming from an incident Sept. 10, 2025, at a daycare she operated from her home.
At the request of a Wichita TV Station, McPherson County District Judge John Klenda Wednesday authorized the release of the affidavit from McPherson Police that led to filing of the charge against Kimberly Kay Horn.
On Sept. 11, Police had been called to Roosevelt Elementary School where a family advocate and social worker observed marks on the alleged victim and provided photos of injuries that included small puncture wounds, bruising, and abrasion the child said resulted from an altercation with Horn where he was slapped, pushed and had their fingers bit.
Later interviews indicated the child said Horn’s dog also bit him recently. The victim’s father later told police Horn claimed those injuries were self-inflicted.
At the time of Horn’s arrest at her home daycare, officers found several dogs in the living room and others in a bedroom, which led to child endangerment and permitting a dangerous animal to be at large charges Horn is also facing.
Horn, who is free on a $150,000 bond, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 12. Her daycare license has been suspended by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment pending further proceedings.
