Reno County Annex to Close Friday Afternoon for Funeral of Former Treasurer Brenda Kowitz

RENO COUNTY, Kan. — The Reno County Annex, 125 W. First Avenue, will be closed to walk-in traffic from 11:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025. The closure allows staff to attend the funeral of Brenda Kowitz, former Reno County Treasurer, and long-time public servant.

The Register of Deeds Office, the Treasurer’s Office (Tags and Taxes) and the Clerk’s Office/Elections will be closed during this time. The Appraiser’s Office will remain available to take phone calls at 620-694-2915.

“We will stop all tag and title transactions at 11:45 a.m. and resume them at 3:00 p.m.,” said Treasurer Richele Calvert.

“We appreciate the public’s understanding as we join the community in honoring Brenda’s many years of dedicated service,” said Michelle Updegrove, Reno County Register of Deeds.

Normal business operations will resume at 3:00 p.m. at the Reno County Annex, 125 W. First Avenue.
