HUTCHINSON, Kan. (September 8, 2025) – Today is Dillons Dollar Day at the Kansas State Fair!  State Fair Board President John Leslie kicked off the board’s morning meeting with a quote from Dwight D. Eisenhower, “In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.”  The Board has spent countless hours planning for the fair, and every morning they meet to discuss what is going well, what can be improved, and what the day ahead will hold.

Anthony Fadale, ADA Coordinator for the State of Kansas was present for Monday’s meeting.  He attends the fair every year to see if there is anything around the fairgrounds that could be improved and made more accessible.  He works with the board to help make those changes should the grounds require it, and this morning, he reported that he has not noticed any obvious issues so far this year!

Over the weekend, Kansans from across the state enjoyed the fair, with 634 kids participating in the Pedal Pull Championships, and 40 kids participating in the Mutton Bustin’!  On Sunday, total gate admission was 32,330 people, with only one minor issue, and the carnival brought in $184,000.

The Board also emphasized the importance of the grounds maintenance crews and the residents from Hutchinson Correctional Facility.  Many members of the board noted that without the help of the residents, the fair would not be able to run smoothly.  These residents do a wonderful job, and their high spirits on a rainy morning such as this help contribute to a positive fair experience for all fairgoers!

Visit the fair today to see many exciting exhibits, including an emergency preparedness exhibit going on until 4:00 complete with K-( demonstration throughout the day.  There will be mounted shooter demonstrations throughout the day, bingo at 2:00, and the Bennett Hall Band will be performing at 4:00 at People’s Bank and Trust Arena.  For a full list of state fair events, visit kansasstatefair.com.
