Sterling 47, Sedgwick 6
Sterling rolled past Sedgwick, thanks to a huge night from senior standout Zane Farney, who finished with 155 rushing yards on 18 carries and four touchdowns.
Farney opened the scoring with a 4-yard run in the first quarter, but Sedgwick quickly answered when Maverick Stauth punched it in from four yards out. The extra point was no good, leaving Sterling with a slim 7–6 lead early in the second.
From there, the Black Bears seized control. Logan Isaac found the end zone on a 7-yard run, and Sterling immediately capitalized on a successful onside kick, adding another touchdown to build a 20–6 halftime advantage.
The ground game continued to dominate after the break. Alongside Farney’s four scores, Wyatt Newberry chipped in with 107 yards on just 8 carries.
For Sedgwick, sophomore quarterback Holden Farralez threw for 118 yards. Sterling, now 1-0, heads to Moundridge while Sedgwick will face Inman next week.
