McPHERSON COUNTY, Kan. — The McPherson County Sheriff’s Office has issued a scam alert involving a person claiming to be a “Captain Wells” calling people and advising them they missed jury duty.
The Sheriff’s Office by the way does not have a Captain Wells. This person informs callers they will need to obtain gift cards and provide that information to him to take care of a “fine.”
If you get a call like this, hang up and let local law enforcement know about this. Also, and most importantly you are reminded to absolutely NOT give out any personal, banking or other financial information over the phone to unfamiliar persons.
