LINDSBORG, Kan. — The Lindsborg City Council Monday adopted the 2025 editions of the Standard Traffic Ordinance and Uniform Public Offense Code.

These two documents are updated annually by the League of Kansas Municipalities and incorporate changes made in state law and any court decisions over the prior year.

The Council also approved a $16,500 allocation to renew the contract for the bike share program that is operated through OCCK in Salina. Bethany College and Lindsborg Community Hospital contribute a combined $6,000 toward this program.

Purchase of a new backup generator for the Public Works Department was approved. Public Works Director Denny Walker said a problem developed with the switchover equipment on the existing 13-kilowatt generator, which would cost over $10,000 to fix. Instead of fixing it, it will be cheaper to purchase new, which is being obtained from Pestinger Heating and Air for a cost of just over $7,250, the lowest of three quotes received.

The Council approved a nearly $15,500 replacement of an evaporator and related items on the HVAC system at the Sundstrom Conference Center, which had developed a leak last year. The system had been re-charged again in the spring, and DCS checked the full system to find the problem.

It approved a special event permit for the beer garden that will be set up October 17-18 in the City Hall parking lot, extending into Lincoln Street for live music. They are working through Whiskey Wagon in McPherson, and in addition to cereal malt beverages they will be selling alcohol. As it has a caterers’ liquor license, the licensing process is a bit different than in past years.

The Council also conducted a 15-minute executive session to discuss contractual matters under the attorney-client privilege provision of the Kansas Open Meetings Act. Prior to and after the regular meeting the Council held working sessions on the city’s proposed 2026 budget.
