National Weather Service Issues Extreme Heat Warning from 2 PM Saturday through 7 PM Wednesday

SHARE NOW

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for all of southeast and east central Kansas from 2 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

A multi-day period of temperatures in the upper 90s to around 100, combined with high humidity, will produce heat index values up to 105 degrees, possibly higher than that for areas to the north of US 54.

If you have to be outside, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments, and drink plenty of fluids.

You’re also encouraged to check up on any relatives or neighbors who might not have air conditioning, and under no circumstances leave young children… or any other person… or pets in unattended vehicles, which can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
