LINDSBORG, Kan. — On Monday, the Lindsborg City Council approved the replacement of a mini-split HVAC unit in the electrical room of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Water/Wastewater Superintendent Bill Walker told the Council the current HVAC unit, installed in 2009, has multiple issues including a broken part in the air conditioning part of the unit that is not worth replacing along with mold issues that are very difficult if not impossible to clean out and a drainage issue, The unit is being purchased from Pestinger Heating and Air for $6,446
The council also approved the annual sewer main cleanout work through Mayer Specialty Services for up to $15,000. This annual work has significantly reduced the number of sewer backups and they usually also clean out one of the lift stations each year.
The Council accepted a $42,118 bid from Ryan Roofing for replacement of the City Hall Roof. Four bids were received, and Ryan Roofing’s bid was accepted based on their proposal to replace all of the fiberboard on which the roofing material is applied, whereas other bids would only replace damaged fiberboard or not replace it at all. The bid also included an additional $700 for replacement of downspouts in the event that would be needed. State historic tax credits will also be sought to offset part of the project cost.
Council members approved the annual waiver of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures. The waver is done annually by nearly every local governmental unit in Kansas, which prepares financial statements under the Kansas Municipal Accounting and Audit Guide, which is considered a regulatory audit to demonstrate compliance with Kansas Cash Basis Laws. A regulatory audit doesn’t include certain things that would be in a GAAP audit.
The Council also approved payment to Johnson Pump Services of $8,998 for replacement of a pump and motor on the irrigation system at the golf course that failed last month, and appointment of a new fire department member.
