A 2-year-old boy is safe and in protective custody after he was found wandering alone inside the Pilot Truck Stop on North 9th.
According to Salina Police Captain Jim Feldman, on Monday morning around 10am, staff contacted authorities when they realized the child was in the store without supervision. The child was taken into protective custody.
Officers were able to identify and locate a possible guardian camping in the area. Forty-one-year-old Jared Shirack was booked into the Saline County Jail on a charge of aggravated endangerment of a child.
