LINDSBORG, Kan. – No. 8 seeded Sterling took on the No. 1 seed Bethel in the quarterfinal round of the KCAC Tournament Championship on Thursday, April 23 for what proved to be the Warrior’s final match of the season. Despite the odds and the lightning delays, Sterling battled but came up short 4-1.

Bethel started by securing the doubles point. Sterling’s Ibrahim Curtis-Kaduma and Cassidy Kelly competed against Jonah Bergeron and Adam Tomika in No. 3 doubles and lost 6-0. The Threshers secured the point as Rubem Bogomoltz and Adam King lost to Jorge Gabriel Batista and Billy Haoda 6-2 in the No. 2 doubles match.

Play then moved into the singles action. Fernando Vargas got the Warriors back on track with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Petr Kollar in the No. 2 singles match. However, a 6-0, 6-0 loss from Kelly to Tomka in the No. 6 singles match and a 6-1, 6-2 loss from Bogomoltz to Zaidh Zihar in No. 5 singles play put the Warriors on the ropes. The Threshers secured the win with a battle in No. 3 singles. King took on Haoda and forced a third set. King lost the first set 6-3, before battling back in set two for the 6-2 win, but couldn’t close the third and lost 6-1. The loss concluded play as the Threshers secured the win.

Still battling in their third set were Pedro Felipoff and Gabriel Batista in the No. 1 singles match and Kazuki Fukushima and Rodrigo Sanchez Hurtado in No. 4 singles play.
