Lyons/Sterling Baseball Splits with Beloit Friday

Game 1:  Lyons/ Sterling 1, Beloit 0 (9 innings)

Lyons/Sterling got the 1-0 walk-off win in the bottom of the 9th inning over Beloit. Zayn Zambo walked to lead off the inning and with 1 out, Meyer Anderson got the RBI single to right field to drive in David Myers who had come in to courtesy run for Zambo. Blake Smith went the complete 9 innings to get the win as he shutout the Trojans on 3 hits while striking out 6 and walking 2 batters.

 

Game 2:  Beloit 4, Lyons/Sterling 3

Beloit earned the split in the doubleheader as they held off Lyons/Sterling 4-3.  Beloit scored 3 runs in the first inning on 2 hits and 2 walks. Lyons/Sterling scored single runs in the bottom of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings. But in the top of the 5th, Brooks Dunstan knocked a RBI single to score Joel Rexroat in what turned out to be the game winning run. Paxton Fouts got the win going  5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits while sticking out 3 and walking 6 batters. Kaden Rabe pitched the last 2 innings for Beloit to get the save.

 

Lyons is now 12-8 on the season and will play Pratt-Skyline on Monday and Southeast of Saline on Thursday. Both doubleheaders will be played at Battershell Field in Lyons. Beloit moves their season record to 14-4 and will play Republic County on Monday and Clay Center on Thursday.
