1941-2025
William J. Borntrager, 84, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Ascension via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. He was born on May 28, 1941 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Jonas P. and Edna (Miller) Borntrager.
He was a lifelong farmer and also did construction work.
William was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He was united in marriage to Karyn Sue Bontrager. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2020.
William is survived by his sons, Wesley Borntrager of Nickerson, and Robert (Lisa) Borntrager of Hutchinson; daughter, Fran Hostetler of Hutchinson; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Wilma Beachy of Hutchinson, Ellen (Paul) Wagner of Wichita, and Lorene (Riki) Brooks of Kingman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Willie Borntrager; brother-in-law, Roman Beachy; and grandson, Kyle Borntrager.
Family will receive friends Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 2-5 p.m. at the Kenneth Bontrager residence, 2408 East Red Rock Road, Hutchinson, Kansas 67501. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Kenneth Bontrager residence. Burial will follow at the Yoder Amish Cemetery.
