Sandy Lorene Schrahl, 64, of Hutchinson, died November 2, 2026, at her home. She was born February 17, 1962, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Charles "Richard" and Verda Jean (Phillips) Schrahl.
Sandy graduated from high school in Ringwood, Oklahoma, and attended community college in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She worked as a secretary at Riordan Clinic in Wichita for many years. Sandy was a creative and compassionate soul and found joy in expressing herself through art and music. She loved playing the piano at church, as an extension of her heart and a way to bring joy to others. Sandy had a special gift for caring about people, especially those who were often overlooked or forgotten, and was always willing to lend a hand, offer kindness, or make someone’s day a little brighter. She attended Buhler United Methodist Church.
Sandy married Carl R. Slayton in 1981 and they had 2 sons, Jackson and Jesse, and later divorced.
She is survived by her sons, Jackson Slayton of Woodbine, Jesse Slayton of Grand Junction, Colorado; grandchildren, Gabby, Chadrick, and Madelyn; brother, Rodney Schrahl (Charlotte) of Ringwood, Oklahoma, and their children, Phillip and Amber Schrahl, Kristine and Nick Almack.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2026, at Buhler United Methodist Church, 220 N. Main, Buhler. Inurnment will follow in Buhler Municipal Cemetery East.
Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at Elliott Mortuary.
