Rodger Thummel

Rodger Thummel, age 72, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025.

Rodger was born on June 16, 1953, to Leo and Lena Thummel. He dedicated 50 years of his life to Gates Corporation, a career that took him around the world to places such as China, Belgium, and India. Rodger had a deep love for travel and was always happiest spending time with his friends and family.

Rodger's greatest accomplishment was his family. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lena Thummel; his brother-in-law, Doug Barnow; and his grandson, Traxton Stack.

He is survived by his son, Brent Thummel (Angie); daughter, Melissa Montgomery (Adam); stepdaughter, Heather Boren (Dylan); stepson, Jake Storrer (Nicki); and his siblings, Ronda Barnow, Jerry Thummel (Sharon), and Janet Wilson (Robert). Through his children, Rodger was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved very much.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas. Rodger's family will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas.
