Robert Ray “Rob” Krabbe Jr.
1961-2025

Robert Ray Krabbe Jr., acclaimed author, composer, and creative voice, passed away November 13, 2025, his 198th day of sobriety, following a sudden and turbo-aggressive case of liver cancer. His passing was unexpected and deeply felt by the many readers, musicians, collaborators, family, and friends who cherished his work and spirit.

A lifelong artist, Rob devoted himself to storytelling in every form it took. As an author, he was known for blending sharp wit, emotional depth, and a distinct sense of place. His novels and short works—shared through his personal site and through online literary communities—developed a loyal following who admired not only his creativity but also his generosity in engaging with readers and aspiring writers.

As a composer, Rob brought the same imaginative intensity to music as he did to prose. His compositions were personal, atmospheric, and richly textured, often weaving together traditional and modern elements. Many who encountered his music described it as cinematic—art designed not just to be heard, but to be felt.

Rob lived with curiosity, humor, and a fierce love for family and friends. Rob approached art with sincerity and treated the creative world as a shared space—one where anyone could experiment, improve, and belong.

Rob’s passing came far too soon. The speed and severity of his illness allowed little time for preparation, but even in his final days, he remained reflective, warm, and connected to the people and passions that defined his life.

He leaves behind a legacy of stories, music, and human connection that will continue to resonate with those touched by his work.

Rob is survived by his wife, Pastor Melissa Krabbe of Sterling, KS; mother, Glenda Krabbe of Seneca, SC; three children, Tess Prater (Alan) of Willis, TX, Tabitha Campbell (Alex) of Easley, SC, and Tristan Krabbe (Sebastian) of San Angelo, TX; brother, Lee Krabbe (Sherrie) of Simi Valley, CA; and six grandchildren. Rob is preceded in death by his father, Robert Ray Krabbe, Sr.; and brother, Gregory Krabbe.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 17, 2025, at the United Presbyterian Church, Sterling. Memorials may be given to the United Presbyterian Church in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.

May his memory be a blessing, and may his art continue to echo in the lives of all who found beauty in it.
