Richard D. Parker
1949-2025

Richard D. Parker, 76, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center. He was born on May 18, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas to Coy Duard and Georgia Florine (Houk) Parker.

He graduated from high school in Roswell, New Mexico.

Richard served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

He was united in marriage to Betty Louise Smith in August of 1969. They divorced in July of 1983. Richard later married Sheri L. Carpenter on November 28, 1987. They shared 38 years of marriage.

He was a member of the Hopefield Mennonite Church in Moundridge.

Richard was a truck driver for many years. He worked for the City of Moundridge in several different roles, and was known by most as the dump caretaker. Richard worked for the city for 10 years, retiring in 2022.

He loved shooting guns and teaching conceal carry courses. Richard enjoyed the outdoors. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of sarcasm.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sheri Parker of Moundridge; children, Coy Duard Parker of Roswell, NM, Beverly (Steve) Angerman of Meridian, ID, Carrie (Dan) Peterson of DeWitt, IA, Nathan Deneault of Olathe, and Andrea (Josh) Warren of TN; twelve grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Connie (Brian) Markovich of Oracle, AZ, Corliss (Ted) English of Topeka, and Kathy Parker of St. Petersburg, FL; brother-in-law, Randall (Stephanie) Carpenter of Moundridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kelly Parker.

Cremation is planned with memorial services to be announced and held at a later date at Hopefield Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Private burial will take place later at Highland Cemetery, Durrant, OK. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Care Center or Wounded Warriors in care of Moundridge Funeral Home, PO Box 410, Moundridge, KS 67107.
