1949-2025

Regis Yager Jr., 76, of Nickerson, KS, died December 10, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. He was born March 8, 1949, in Hutchinson, KS, to Regis and Mary Joan (Collins) Yager Sr.

Regis was a 1967 Nickerson High School graduate and shortly after graduating, he joined the United States Army, and proudly served as a Vietnam War Veteran.

In his spare time, Regis enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes, and fishing, especially ice fishing. He was a collector of canning jars and the best in gardening just about anything. People often remarked how eagerly they awaited to purchase his peony blooms and tomatoes each year. Regis was also brilliant with numbers, making calculations look effortless and impressive every time. Many admired him, not only for his numerical talent, but also for his deep patriotism towards his country he wholeheartedly loved.

Regis is survived by: his daughters, Dodi (James) Lindsay of Cool, CA and Jennifer Yager of Wichita, KS; significant other, Carol Dirksen of Hutchinson, KS; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his four beloved cats; and all the neighborhood cats.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and brother, Royce Yager.

A private family graveside will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kansas Honor Flight or Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
