1935-2025
Marilyn Yvonne (Winn) Sand, 89, passed away on November 29, 2025, at Brookdale Home in McPherson.
She was born on December 20, 1935, in Fayette, Missouri, to Edgar and Sophia Margaret (Smylie) Winn.
Marilyn attended McPherson grade schools and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Ks.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Laurence E. Sand on June 8, 1954, in McPherson, KS. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, Kit and Kalin.
Through the years, Marilyn worked as a clerk for the McPherson County Courthouse, for Bates, Gatz, and Regier Income Tax Services, Carroll Winslow Accounting, and Larry Penner Accounting, until she retired.
Marilyn enjoyed playing cards, bowling, creating many wedding and birthday cakes, and making greeting cards for her family, friends and church members. Her true joy came from spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. Marilyn and Laurence's strong faith led them to regularly attending the Church of Christ, McPherson, Ks where they both enjoyed immense love through the fellowship there..
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Laurence; children, Kit Sand and Kalin (Mike) Koehn, all of McPherson; three grandchildren: Kyle Scott Koehn, Kristina Lace Koehn, Mikayla Jade Kuluva; and four great-grandchildren: Trenton, Levi, Kaiden, and Maizie; and a sister, Mary Francis (Winn) Duren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Donna Winn and Gladys Huber.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2025, and the Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 9, both at McPherson Church of Christ. A treasured friend, Johnny Skelton, will officiate the service, and the burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Traditions Hospice care or Meals on Wheels McPherson in care of Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, KS 67460.
