Judith Sloan
1946-2025

Judith "Judy" Lynn (May) Sloan, age 79, of Iola, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on December 11, 2025.

She was born on December 10, 1946, in Winfield, Kansas, and grew up just outside of Yates Center and Iola as one of eleven siblings. As the youngest girl and second to the youngest in the family, Judy cherished each of her brothers and sisters and held a deep, lifelong love for them.

Judy was known for her giving heart and her natural ability to make everyone feel welcome. She never knew a stranger, was dependable, hardworking, and always placed her family first. No matter the challenge, she made certain those she loved were cared for.

She had a love for garage sales, especially in Gardner, and had a remarkable talent for finding the best deals. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, deer season, and fishing, and in her younger years she helped bale hay. Although she often misplaced her own belongings, she could find anything someone else had lost with ease.

Judy was the devoted mother of three daughters, Tina, Alice, and Jamie. She worked throughout her life and was selfless with every dime she earned. A coworker once recalled how she offered comfort during a time of personal loss, an act of kindness that left a lasting and positive impact.

She was a mother to many, never turned anyone away, and was known for her warm hospitality. She stood beside those she loved in every circumstance and often said, "I love you more," a phrase she meant with all her heart.

Her life is remembered for her generosity, strength, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to others.

Judy is preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Alice May Canady, and her father, James May. She was also preceded by her siblings, Robert "Bob" Rowe and wife Ann, Beverly Rowe Livingston, Betty Rowe Penner and husband Irving, Marian Rowe Magard and husband Tom, Carol Rowe Troll, David Rowe and wife Carol Sue, Marty May Reida, Norma May Collins and husband Harry, and James Earl "Jimmy" May. In addition, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Jane May.

Judy is survived by her brother, Larry May of Columbia, Missouri; her daughters, Tina White and husband Brady of Iola, Jamie Collier and husband Ryan of Pittsburg, and Alice Sloan and partner Josh Sirota of Neosho Falls. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Lynn Vogel and wife Michelle of Chanute, Steven Baker of Iola, Cora Marrone and husband Dylan of Pittsburg, Hayden Sloan Still of Pittsburg, Ashtyn McLeod and partner Shelby Martin of Grove, Oklahoma, Alexis Sirota of Neosho Falls, Cole Cravens of Pittsburg, and Anderson Sirota of Neosho Falls. Her great-grandchildren include Odessa Vogel-Goodman and partner Sage, Elizabeth Baker, Sloan Marrone, Beckett Marrone, Joey Haney and wife Abigale, Sabbatha Davenport and partner Tomas, and Raymond Love.
