John Hugh Quinn
1949-2025

John Hugh Quinn, 76, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away November 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 2, 1949, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of James Bernard and Mary Jane (Abrams) Quinn. John has resided in Lyons since 1972, formerly of Mingo Junction, Ohio. He graduated from Mingo Junction High School, with the class of 1967. In 1972, John graduated from University of Sioux Falls with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and received his master’s degree in administration from Fort Hays State University. He worked at USD 405 from 1973 until his retirement in 2014 as a Math, English, Physical Education, ISS Room Supervisor and coach. John served in the Kansas National Guard from 1972 until 1978. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lyons, where he was a Sunday School Teacher, and the Liars Fishing Club, Lyons. John enjoyed fishing, and bow hunting for deer. On June 3, 1972, John was united in marriage with Sharon Ford in Lyons. John is survived by his wife, Sharon Quinn of Lyons, KS; son, Isaac Quinn and wife Brandy of Hesston, KS; daughter, Kristen Cook and husband Paul of Shawnee, KS; brother, Jim Quinn of Grants, NM; and five grandchildren, Kaden and Reese Quinn of Hesston, KS, and Kaitlyn, Harper, and Jullian Cook of Shawnee, KS. John is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 21, 2025, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at John and Sharon’s home. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church, Liars Fishing Club or Friends of Animals in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
