Joan Diann Palmer
1947-2025

Joan Diann Palmer, 78, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend to many, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at her childhood homestead near Lamont, KS.  She was born on July 23, 1947, to Robert and Susie Riddle in Carthage, MO.

Joan graduated from Madison Kansas High School in 1965.  There she met the love of her life, George Palmer.  They married on January 8, 1966.  They have 3 sons, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Joan owned Fashion Fabrics, worked at Audit Tax, and finally Wolf Creek Nuclear Plant where she retired from in 1995.  From 2012 to 2023 they spent their winters in Palm Springs, CA.

Joan was very proud of her family and loved them all dearly.  She was a good friend and the go-to when you had a question.  She will be missed by many.

Joan was preceded in death by her mother Susie Tatman, stepfather Kenny Tatman, father Robert Riddle, and half-brother Robert Riddle Jr.

She is survived by her husband George, son George II (Kimberly), Wichita, KS; Kenneth (Rosa), Hutchinson, KS; and Archie (Dena), Yates Center, KS. Grandchildren Amanda (Stan) Gorges, Zeke (Daleen), Ethan and Hannah Palmer, Gabriella and Alejandra Palmer, Makalia, MacKenzie, Miranda, and Melanie Palmer. Great grandchildren Harlan, Holly, Blaire and John Gorges; Warrick, Gianna, Xavier, and Fulton Palmer; Nathaniel Palmer; Alexis and Archie Palmer.  Half sisters June Riddle, St. Louis, MO; Nancy Riddle, DeSoto, MO.  Half brothers Nelson and Paul Riddle, St. Louis, MO; Dewain (Courtney) Riddle, Seneca, MO; and Jonathan (Amanda) Riddle, DeSoto, MO.

Joan was a good friend and the go-to when you had a question. She will be remembered for her wittiness, love of sewing, crocheting, embroidery, making jewelry, and wearing hats among many other things. She was a very talented lady. She will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, KS. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery west of Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
