Harold Wilfred Crowdes, Jr., 88, a Marquette, KS resident most of his life, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Rice County District Hospital in Lyons, KS.
Harold was born on November 14, 1937, in Yuma, AZ, the son of Mary Roberta (Baker) and Harold Wilfred Crowdes, Sr. He graduated in 1955 from Marquette High School and continued his education at Bethany College, Lindsborg. Harold was a great athlete, and at one time, held a pole vault record for the state. He also excelled at football.
He spent most of his working career as a foreman at Central Plastics. Following retirement, he enjoyed golfing and trips to Las Vegas.
He is survived by a son, Randall Crowdes of Little River, KS; a sister, Thelma Nelson of San Antonio, TX; a granddaughter, Angela (Nathan) Tyler of Olathe, KS; two great-granddaughters; one niece; and two great-nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Crowdes; brother, Jim Crowdes; sister, Jeanette Carlton; daughter, Chelly Crowdes; and nephew, Jason Hamel.
A private graveside service will be held in the Marquette Cemetery.
