FloAnn (Ballinger) Marsh, 88, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She was born on August 24, 1937, in Independence, Kansas, to Carl Ashley Ballinger and Eloise Neva (Lamendolla) BallingerFloAnn leaves behind a legacy of kindness and warmth that touched all who knew her.
She was united in marriage to Roger Rankin in 1957, and from that union, they welcomed two daughters, Kathy and Cheryl, and a son, Chris. The family lived in Gardner, Kansas, before settling in Humboldt, Kansas, where FloAnn began her career as an Insurance Agent.
Later, she was united in marriage to William Charles Marsh on December 14, 1975, in Humboldt, Kansas. Through this union, they welcomed a son, Charles Marsh. They were married for 43 years before Bill’s passing in 2019. FloAnn was a dedicated Licensed CISR Insurance Agent, a role she embraced from 1972 until her retirement in 2007, spanning an impressive 38 years. Her expertise and commitment to her clients were matched only by her vibrant personality. A proud graduate of Independence High School in 1955, she furthered her education at Independence Community College and graduated from there in 1957. She was also an active member of Beta Sigma Phi. Her pursuit of knowledge took her to Topeka, Kansas, where she achieved her insurance license, laying the foundation for her esteemed career.
Known for her charming and bubbly demeanor, FloAnn was a nurturing presence to both friends and family. Her kindness was a hallmark of her character, making her a cherished figure in her community. Beyond her professional pursuits, she had a passion for travel, often embarking on adventures with her beloved husband, Bill. Together, they roamed to destinations such as New Orleans, San Antonio, Washington, D.C., and New York City, although Italy held a special place in her heart as her favorite escape.
In her earlier years, FloAnn cherished spending time with her sisters in Kansas City, where they would enjoy lunch and delightful shopping outings. These moments reflected her deep appreciation for family ties and connection.
She is survived by her sons, Chris Rankin, of Bolivar, MO, Charles O. Marsh of Humboldt, Kansas, and her daughter, Cherrelle Valentini of Atlanta, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Marsh, her daughter, Cathy Coppes, and her granddaughter, Angelina Mills.
Flo Ann Marsh leaves behind a legacy characterized by love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit. She will be deeply remembered and missed by all whose lives she touched.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home. A Visitation will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Ave, Chanute, Kansas, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas.
