Donna Savage Walters, 95, died November 24, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 30, 1930, in Wichita, to Herbert Victor and Thelma J. (Blackshere), Savage, Sr.
Donna graduated high school in 1948, and Adela Hale Business School in 1950. She was a member of Chi Omega and P.E.O. Chapter D. Donna influenced many young girls serving as a Girl Scout leader both in Anchorage, AK and Indianapolis, IN. She also traveled the state working for one of the Kansas Girl Scout Councils. Despite life’s adversities, Donna never lost her faith, which helped shape her life. She had a gift of making anyone, young and old, feel welcomed and loved with her strength, kindness, and compassion. Donna was a faithful member of Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson.
On September 10, 1950, she married Raleigh Jack Merryman. He died July 1, 1978, after sharing 28 years of marriage. On August 25, 1979, she married Harold W. “Hap” Walters, in Indianapolis, IN. He died January 5, 2021, after they shared 42 years of marriage.
Donna is survived by: local grandson, Brian Brentlinger (Julie) of Hutchinson; daughter, Cynthia Keller (Scott) of Carmel, IN; daughters-in-laws, Deborah Walters of Westfield, IN and Debra Walters of Plainfield, IN; nine additional grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Minta Britt; brother, Herbert Savage, Jr.; daughters, Nancy Brentlinger; and Diane Merryman; grandson, Bradley Brentlinger; stepsons, Michael & David Walters; and granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Robinson.
Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Park Place Christian Church or the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
