Clayton McElroyFredonia, KS

In his younger years he ranched. Who would ever have thought he would ride a horse? He worked for a short time in a nursing home, then drove a semi all over the country for a handful of companies. He finally settled in Fredonia, where for the last ten years he was a warehouse yard manager, loading and unloading a variety of freight on and off trucks. He loved that job and took real pride in doing it well. He was a smart man, and it showed.

Clayton either liked you or he didn’t, and you always knew which side you were on. He loved hanging out with friends—eating, drinking, talking, listening to loud music, and playing Wii golf. He was almost always undeniably cheerful and happy. If you were down, he had some quirky thing to say that could put a smile on your face. If you had an idea you thought was great, he had a slightly better one. If you made him a meal, he had a suggestion to make it that much better. He would give the shirt off his back, or anything he had, to his kids or a friend in need. He was a true friend.

He is survived by his father, Tommy McElroy; his son, Quinton, and Quinton’s girlfriend, Heather, and their children, Maisie, Emma, Clayton, Heaven, and Lexi; and his daughter, Lyndsey, and Lyndsey’s boyfriend, Michael, and their daughter, Gracie.
A step daughter BillieJo and a nephew Cheyenne Mack.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kay "Katy" Prowse.
