Chad Edward Bright, husband, father, son, and friend, passed away at home on Saturday December 13, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on January 13, 1969, in Independence, Kansas.
A proud veteran, Chad enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country from 1988 to 1992, reaching the rank of Corporal during the Gulf War, including participation in Operation Desert Storm. During his time of service, Chad earned multiple honors, awards, and badges to include- Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, a National Defense Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Southwest Asia Service Medal, and a Navy Unit Commendation. Following his military service, he pursued his education with great dedication. A graduate of the Class of 1987 from Independence High School, Chad furthered his studies at Pittsburg State University, where he earned a degree in Plastics Engineering between 1994 and 1997. This education led him to a successful career as a Plastics Engineer at Standard Motors in Independence, Kansas.
In January of 2007, in Independence, Kansas Chad was united in marriage to Jennifer Cox, she survives him at home, as well as his children Abigail and Zachary.
Chad's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Elks Lodge and enjoyed hunting, golfing, and fishing, an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, he loved spending time with friends, especially while watching football games.
Chad is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer (Cox) Bright, and their two children, Abigail Bright and Zachary Bright, of the home. He is also mourned by his father Kerry (Donna) Bright, and his siblings, Renee Johnson of Copan, Oklahoma, and Reeda (David)Bidleman of Coffeyville, Kansas. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly: Priscella (Danny) Caron and their children, Aidan, Taiylor, Kaylin, Kara Bidleman, Kaydence Navarro, Jennifer Johnson-Schultz, Clifton Johnson, and Kierstyn, Cali, and Collin Cox. Chad is also survived by several aunts and uncles. Kathy (John) Wing, Kent (Diana) Eikenberry. Jackie VanCleave and Oneta (Mike) Auer.
Chad was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Bright; grandparents Reed and Louise Eikenberry, Vern and Averil Bright; his niece and nephew, Amanda Fromong and Scott Fromong; and brother-in-law, Curt Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday December 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, there will also be moments of sharing and memories at 11 AM, at the Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 E. 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery, in Cherryvale at 12:00 PM.
Chad Edward Bright's legacy as a dedicated family man, a committed soldier, and a friend to many will continue to inspire and resonate within the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to a college fund established for his two children, may be mailed or left at the funeral home.
