After completing high school, Barbara began her life adventure being a free spirit. She worked various jobs throughout, doing hair, working as a vet technician, and working for Cessna and Bell Helicopters for many years. While living in Texas, Barbara enjoyed target practice and entered numerous competitions and won several events. She loved to travel and was always up for the next adventure.
Barbara had a passion for animals of all kinds and had a special love for her rescued dog Helga. Settling in Liberty, KS., Barbara began her relationship with the community, where she served as Mayor. She enjoyed the people of the town and opened her home for family and friends. Barbara had numerous close friends that she thought of as family, and she cherished them all.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, son Levi Ellis and Roger Carter whom she was married to for almost 25 years.
Cremation has been requested, a Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, November 24th, 2025, at 11:00 am at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia.
