McPherson, Kan. – The Tiger Softball team battled the McPherson College Bulldogs at home last night in the 5th contest of the 2025-2026 McPherson Collegiate Cup.
The Bulldogs jumped on the Tigers right away in the 1st inning with 2 runs, the Tigers got a run back but allowed 3 more in the 2nd to face an early 5-1 deficit. But the Tigers were able to respond with a huge 4 run 3rd inning to tie the game thanks to a 2 RBI single from Ciara Valadez, and 2 more RBI singles from Jaci Jeffers and Karmen De La Cruz. In the 5th, Abby Schleisman homered to center to give the Tigers their first lead of the game. The Bulldogs answered right back with a solo homer of their own in the 6th to even things back up but the Tigers were again able to respond in the bottom half of the inning, scoring 3 runs on RBI doubles from Jaci Jeffers and Abby Schleisman to carry a 9-6 lead into the final inning. The Tigers were able to quickly get 3 outs in the 7th to earn a hard fought win over the Bulldogs. Chelsie Hirtler pitched excellent for the Tigers, coming into the game in the 3rd with a 5-1 score and allowing just 1 run the rest of the way. As for Collegiate Cup Standings the Bulldogs still lead 3-2 but Tiger baseball can tie it up next Tuesday.
The Tigers are now 13-26 on the season and will head to Texas for the final road trip of the regular season this weekend to play the Texas Wesleyan University Rams. Games will be available to watch on the SAC Sports Network and Urban Edge Network.
