The Bethany College Women’s Soccer Team opened its home schedule Monday morning at Ted Kessinger Family Stadium against Paul Quinn College. The game was played through until the final 4 minutes when it was called off due to intense heat.
The Swedes battled throughout the match, showing determination against a strong Paul Quinn attack. The Swedes goalkeeper Marie Miera Y Moseley played all 90 minutes and recorded an impressive 5 saves, helping the swedes defend the attack throughout the match.
Offensively, Leila Jones took the Swedes only shot of the match, the shot was on target but unfortunately saved. The Swedes continued to compete and look for opportunities to generate offense despite Paul Quinn’s pressure.
Defensively, the Swedes faced a relentless attack that produced 28 total shots and 19 shots on goal. Marie Miera Y Mosely and the Swedes defensive unit battled throughout the match and showed great effort.
Although the result did not go in the Swedes favor, the match provided valuable experience for the team who is continuing to build chemistry early in the season. There is plenty of soccer left in the season, the Swedes will begin preparing for their conference opener at Sterling College on September 16th.
