Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Baseball team wrapped up the 2026 season this weekend with a three-game home series against McPherson College. The weekend also served as Senior Day, giving the program an opportunity to celebrate a group of student-athletes who have made a lasting impact on Bethany Baseball.
GAME 1: SWEDES 6, BULLDOGS 11
Bethany opened the series with a competitive effort, totaling 12 hits on the afternoon. Stephen Kent had a standout game, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and three runs scored. Yan Ortiz added two hits and three RBIs, while Fernando Bones collected two hits and drove in a run.
Fabian Dumey also added two hits, and the Swedes stayed within striking distance throughout much of the contest.
GAME 2: SWEDES 6, BULLDOGS 15
In game two, Bethany once again showed fight offensively with 12 hits. Fernando Bones led the way with a 3-for-4 performance and scored three times. Manny Gonzalez continued a strong weekend by going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Yan Ortiz drove in three runs.
Stephen Kent added two RBIs, and the Swedes continued to battle through all nine innings. Wesly Martinez delivered 3.2 scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts.
GAME 3: SWEDES 11, BULLDOGS 16
Bethany closed the season with another strong offensive showing, scoring 11 runs on 11 hits. Fabian Dumey had a huge day, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs. Manny Gonzalez scored three runs and added two hits, while Stephen Kent scored twice and doubled.
William Sanchez, Will Parsons, Yan Ortiz, and Jose Morales each added RBIs as the Swedes continued to compete until the final out.
