McPherson, Kan – The Bulldogs had their hands full this past week with four matches against KCAC opponents within six days of each other. They opened up their week with a matchup against Friends University in Wichita where they dominated on the court with a 7-0 victory.

McPherson didn’t drop a single set against the Falcons all day long; there were, however, two close sets for Arthur Nardy and Jayson Wasserfuhr in their singles matches. In both of their first sets, each of them won 7-5 and cruised to a decisive second set win over Cristobal Fuentez and Gabriel Gomez. Balazs Temesvari and Hamish Wyatt had a nearly perfect 12-game match on their courts, but both of them would drop just one game played on the day.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs faced Avila University at home and, once again, rolled to another 7-0 victory for their eighth consecutive victory.

Nardy’s match on the #1 Singles court was the longest match of the afternoon as he took on Axel Scott. Scott’s serves were some of the fastest that the Bulldogs had seen throughout the year, but Nardy held his own after dropping the first set. He would win the next two sets decisively and take the 2-1 victory. Every other match for the Bulldogs was dominant in favor of the hosts. Jayson Wasserfuhr defeated Daniel Lozano in the #2 Singles match while Bruno Barrientos held down the #3 Singles court with a 6-3, 6-1 victory.

Hamish WyattDavian Spies and Temesvari won their matches in two sets by a combined score of 36-5, giving McPherson the 7-0 victory.

The Bulldogs’ took on Southwestern College for their Senior Day matchup on Thursday. In one of their fastest matches of the year, McPherson dropped just seven of 79 games played at the Bulldog Tennis Center. The Moundbuilders were only able to travel five players on the court, which gave them an immediate point from the beginning on the #6 Singles court. With two quick doubles matches, the Bulldogs made quick work of the singles matches and took the 7-0 victory for their ninth consecutive win.

McPherson ran into trouble in their final match of the week with a trip to Leavenworth, Kansas to take on the University of Saint Mary Spires. The Spires took the first point of the match with wins in the #1 and #3 Doubles matches.

The Bulldogs found wins from Nardy, Wyatt and Temesvari to secure three points for the Bulldogs, but the Spires found matches in the #2, #3 and #6 Singles matches to hold on for their tight 4-3 victory over McPherson, snapping their nine-game winning streak in the closing stages of the regular season.

Currently in the standings, McPherson and Saint Mary now sit in a tie for second place behind Bethel College, who happens to be the Bulldogs’ next match to begin their final week of the regular season.
