Athlete of the Week: Janmejay Patwardhan, Hesston Tennis

Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce Hesston High School junior Janmejay Patwardhan as this week’s Athlete of the Week, presented by Hutchinson Community College.

The week – Patwardhan finished a strong season with a second-place finish in singles at the Class 4A state tournament in Topeka. Patwardhan was the No. 2 seed, and won a three-set quarterfinal thriller over Wellington’s Maverick Moore. He then topped Winfield’s Josh Moore 6-4, 6-0 in the semifinals before falling in the finals to Parsons’ Wyatt Shultz. Patwardhan collected 14 points, helping Hesston run away with the team state title.

The season – Patwardhan reached the 30-win mark this season and won 18 matches against state qualifiers. Coach Daniel Jantz praised Patwardhan’s development not just on the court but also off it, where he vastly improved his leadership skills.
