HESSTON, Kan. — The Hesston College men’s soccer team remained unbeaten on the season Saturday night, rolling past Bethany College 8-1 at home to improve to 3-0-0 on the season.
The Larks wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, with Tiago Oliveira finding the back of the net just 1:36 into the match. Jayden Chaiyote doubled the lead at 8:51 before Alexander Radu added his first goal of the night in the 18th minute. Bethany answered with a goal from Andrew Clouse at 18:43, but Hesston quickly regained control as Mario Delgado scored in the 29th minute to give the Larks a 4-1 advantage at halftime.
Hesston continued its offensive attack in the second half. Radu completed a hat trick with goals in the 59th and 69th minutes, giving him three goals on the night and six for the season. Oliveira added his second goal of the match in the 84th minute, and Victor Roldan capped the scoring with a goal at 86:39 off an assist from Delgado.
The Larks dominated statistically, outshooting Bethany 32-10 and putting 16 shots on goal. Hesston goalkeeper Harry Morris made three saves while allowing one goal. Radu led the Larks with three goals on five shots, while Oliveira finished with two goals. Santiago Llanos recorded two assists, and Delgado added a goal and an assist.
With the victory, Hesston improves to 3-0-0 on the season while Bethany falls to 0-2-0.
