OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Hesston College men’s golf team made history on Tuesday (Sept. 1) at the Southwestern Christian Invitational as they brought home the first ever tournament win as a team in program history. The Larks broke two program records in the tournament setting a new tournament low round (284) and lowest 54-hole team total (865).
On top of taking home the team title, Kory Meireis finished the three-round tournament with a score of -1 to take down the individual title. Meireis became the third Lark golfer to win an individual championship since 2023. Meireis shot rounds of 72 (+1), 67 (-4) and 73 (+2) on his way to the title. His second-round score of 67 was one stroke shy of the lowest round scored in program history and included nine birdies and a 208-yard hole-in-one.
The Larks had two other golfers finish in the top-10 with freshmen Loic Goethals finishing tied for sixth and Caleb Troyer finishing ninth. Goethals shot rounds of 70 (-1), 74 (+3) and 72 (+2) for an overall score of 217 (+4) while Troyer shot rounds of 76 (+5), 70 (-1) and 73 (+2) for a total of 219 (+6).
Two more Larks finished inside the top-15 with sophomores Vilde Dahlberg and Hugo von Sicard posting totals of 222 (+9) and 223 (+10) respectively. Freshman Robin Ojde rounded out the Larks lineup in 22nd-place with a total of 226 (+13).
The Larks will be back in action on Monday (Sept.7) as they head to Salina for the Carmichael Cup hosted by Bethany College.
