Bulldogs Pick Up First Win of the Season with Collegiate Cup Victory Over Central Christian

McPherson, Kansas – The McPherson Bulldogs Men’s Soccer team picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday night in the Collegiate Cup against Central Christian. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series between the two teams with a 10-1-1 record.

How it Happened
Both the Bulldogs and the Tigers came out aggressive, with the first three goals coming off penalty kicks and a total of 12 cards given throughout the game. McPherson was the first to score, with Nathan Van Wyck finding the back of the net on his penalty shot in the seventh minute. The match would remain scoreless for the rest of the first half.

Seven minutes into the second half, the Tigers would score on a penalty kick of their own. In the 67th minute, the Bulldogs earned another penalty kick, with David Garcia sinking this one to take a 2-1 lead. Just three minutes later, Tijs Stumphius would have a one-touch score on a pass from Ryoga Oki, pulling away for a 3-1 lead. Ronald Lozano would find the back of the net for the Bulldogs in the 80th minute off an assist from Zane Sullivan to make the score 4-1.
