How it Happened
The Bulldogs came into the match riding a four-game win streak to start the season, but they went down early when the Flames scored a goal in the 29th minute. McPherson didn’t get their first shot off until after Saint Mary’s goal, when freshman Jessica Aldrich fired a shot that sailed just high of the net. Just after halftime, Brianna Finch found the back of the net off a corner kick from Gracie Speltz, tying the game up 1-1. Saint Mary would score the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute, and McPherson would get one more shot off but couldn’t connect for another goal.
Goalkeeper Emily Singletary had four saves in goal for the Bulldogs. The Flames took nine shots with six on goal while McPherson took eight shots with three on goal.
