WICHITA, Kan. – Bluejay Football made the trip down to Wichita on Saturday to take on a top 10 opponent in Friends after taking McPherson down to the wire the week prior.
Friends opened up the scoring early, before the Bluejays came roaring back towards the end of the first half, 21-14. The Falcons closed things out, but finished well short of their scoring average, winning the contest 42-14.
Jerome Stewart threw for 111 yards on the night, scoring one touchdown and recording a longest pass of 32 yards. Grady Gebhardt had himself another solid day with 84 rushing yards on 12 carries, with a long run of 50 yards, averaging 7 yards per carry. Tyson Dozhier recorded 83 receiving yards on six receptions, with a longest reception of 32 yards.
Defensively, Cesar Hinojos recorded seven solo tackles and 11 total tackles, Abram Keim recorded seven solo tackles and nine total tackles, while Darriene Gibbs recorded Tabor’s lone tackle-for-loss for two yards.
The Bluejays return to action on Saturday as they host Kansas Wesleyan for a 1:00pm matinee.
