McPherson City Commissioners will review a proposed electric-scooter ordinance at a study session on Tuesday, Oct. 6, following their 8:30am meeting.

If approved, the new rules would bar riders 16 and older from using most city sidewalks. Riders younger than 16 could use sidewalks outside the central business district, but they would have to wear helmets. No one, regardless of age, could ride on sidewalks in the central business district.

The draft ordinance, No. 3471, sets a maximum scooter speed of 15 mph. Pedestrians would always have the right-of-way.
