Making their first road trip of the season, the Barton Community College women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon against Neosho County Community College in Chanute.
The result leaves both teams at 1-0-1 on the year, Barton having won its season opener 11-0 while the Panthers entered Sunday following a 4-1 victory.
Barton returns home for its next outing Wednesday, hosting Western Nebraska Community College in a noon kickoff before opening conference play September 9 against Hutchinson Community College.
Coming off a hat trick and seven-point performance in her collegiate debut, Ana Luiza Gori netted her fourth goal of the season 19:31 into the contest. Mikka Kolle distributed her third assist of the year, sending Gori a through ball for a far post finish and a 1-0 Barton advantage.
Thirteen minutes later, Neosho County produced the equalizer, finishing a cross with a touch to the far post as neither side found the net over the final 57 minutes.
