No. 13 Allen is set to face No. 4 Hutchinson in the opening round of the Plains District Baseball Tournament, marking the second consecutive year the Red Devils will take on the Blue Dragons in postseason play.
Allen enters the tournament with an 18–37 overall record and a 9–23 mark in conference play. Hutchinson, ranked No. 2 in the West Division, comes in at 42–13 overall and 24–7 in conference action.
The opening round will be a best-of-three series, with a third game played only if necessary. Hutchinson will host the series, with Game 1 scheduled for May 7 at 1:00 PM, Game 2 on May 8 at 1:00 PM, and Game 3, if needed, on May 9 at 1:00 PM.
The winner of the series will advance to the second round to face the winner of No. 5 Cowley (33–21, 22–10) or No. 12 Dodge City (24–29, 13–19). With a loss, Allen would move to the elimination bracket and take on the loser of that matchup.
All games of the NJCAA Division II Plains District Baseball Tournament will be streamed live on the KJCCC Sports Network as pay-per-view events.
