WELLSVILLE, Kan. — The Frontier Extension District, in partnership with the Franklin County Conservation District and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), will host an educational program focused on water conservation and soil health on Thursday, July 29, 2026. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Wellsville City Library, 115 W. 6th St., Wellsville, KS 66092, and will feature guest speaker Samantha Adwell, NRCS Conservationist Franklin County, KS Field Office.
During the program, Adwell will discuss practical ways gardeners and farmers can conserve water and improve soil health. Topics will include the importance of water conservation and healthy soils, steps individuals can take to improve water use efficiency and soil quality, and best management practices that can benefit gardens and agricultural operations.
Attendees also can view demonstrations of an irrigation system and a soil health test, providing hands-on examples of practices that can be implemented at home or on the farm. This program is designed for gardeners, producers, landowners, and anyone interested in learning more about protecting natural resources while improving soil productivity. Participants will gain valuable information on sustainable practices that can help conserve water, improve soil health, and support long-term success in their gardening and farming efforts.
