Chanute City Commissioners Monday approved an amended ordinance related to Food and Beverage vendors at the Santa Fe Sports Complex.
Under a new policy that is part of this change, vendors shall receive permission to set up during sports events at the complexes from either Chanute Recreation Commission Director Monica Colborn or Sports Director Ryan Ortiz, who will submit the request on behalf of the vendor to the Commission. Set-up will be allowed on a first come, first served basis on one of four designate spots near the west side campground. The policy change also revises the per event charge to $50, which would cover two events instead of one as in the past.
A reduced speed limit for West 7th from Arolyn Drive to Country Club Road was made permanent. Last fall the Commission amended their ordinance related to golf carts and utility vehicles, Later, Police Chief Chris Pefley temporarily changed the speed limit from 35 to 30 miles an hour to allow golf carts to legally travel to the golf course. The change was made through adoption of an ordinance amending the section of city code setting speed limits.
Commissioners approved the temporary closure of the parking lot north of the Main Street Pavilion Tuesday, July 21st from 4 until 6:30 PM for Main Street Chanute’s re-scheduled Classic Car Cruise. This had been scheduled for June 23rd but was cancelled due to forecast severe weather.
The Commission approved closure of the U-shaped road surrounding the Fiesta Grounds for a September 5th car show, including approval for vendors to set up on city property, authorized alcohol consumption at the Main Street Pavilion Saturday for a beer garden and live music during the 3rd Saturday Cruise Night, and a road closing and food truck authorization for Chanute Recreation Commission’s Summer Fest August 8th.
It also approved the reappointment of Pat Shields, Mike DaLaTorre, and Anna Methvin to the Chanute Housing Authority Board.
